EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WELCOME
Welcome to All,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome each user of the Kentucky Chapter of IAAO website. As a member since its inception in 1997, I have watched in amazement as this chapter has grown in numbers as well as the services offered. As a local chapter we have worked with the Kentucky Department of Revenue to help provide quality educational experiences for all of our members. We have worked to provide training for our instructors and to acquire instructors to help us when extras are needed. Through our educational committee we work hard to provide our members with the resources they need to be fully prepared to meet the task of property assessments of all kinds.
But beyond the arduous task of continual education, our chapter is full of fun loving people who love to help others. Every year we have fund raisers that can be anything from a silent auction, live auctions or selling raffle tickets for prizes to help raise money for education. Each year we award scholarships to very deserving students across our state that might not have monies in their budgets to pay for professional development.
And then fund raising at times becomes infectious and it extends beyond our own education and benefits the people around us. Often, in the cities where we have our annual conferences, we offer a local service project that every member can participate in. We have raised money for Ronald McDonald's house and Kosair's Children's Hospital. We have given toys to those children too. Beyond helping little children, we have also raised money, food and supplies to help a NO-Kill shelter for animals in Owensboro. And it even goes beyond raising funds. One year we took a truck load of pumpkins to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital in Lexington Kentucky to help people of all ages decorate a pumpkin of their own for Halloween. And there have been many more, and in each and every case, we were reminded of how much better it is to give than receive.
So, please use our website to find out more about our chapter, our members and our upcoming events that make us great.Sincerely,
Thomas "Ben" Brown
